Press Releases of CEMA - Agrievolution Press Conference at Eima 2014
CEMA (European Agricultural Machinery) and Agrievolution Alliance (Global Alliance for Agricultural Machinery Manufacturer Associations) organized a joint press conference on 13 November 2014, in the context of Eima International Fair in Bologna, Italy. The conference aimed at the latest agricultural machinery market developments in Europe and the world, and introduction of the 5th Agrievolution Summit on Agriculture Machinery to be organized in İstanbul, Turkey in January, 2016 under the home ownership of TARMAKBIR, within the context of the Agro Eurasia Fair (please click here for more information on the 2015 edition of the Fair).
The headlines from the press releases, in the opinion of TARMAKBIR, are as follows;
- a 5% drop is expected in agricultural machinery sales volume in Europe market for the year 2014. Nevertheless, the European market is still estimated to be at the top position in sales volumes (26 billion Euro), ahead of the USA (21 billion Euro) and China (14 billion Euro),
- More than half (15) of the 28 EU countries has showed a lower demand for ag machinery in 2014, including France and Germany which make up around 40% of the total EU market. The market in Italy has also continued showing a slight decline,
- There have been 119,000 new tractors registered in EU from January to September 2014, where tractors make up about one third of the total agricultural machinery market of the Union. The registery figure is 4% lower compared to the corresponding period of 2013. On the other hand, recovery has been seen in tractor sales in Spain, Portugal and Greece; the countries lately have had economical difficulties,
- Combine harvester sales, representing about 6% of the total ag machinery market of EU, dropped to 9,600 units in 2014 by a 9% decrease compared to 2013,
- 2015 is expected to remain challenging for agricultural machinery sales in Europe, by another 5-10% drop in the market,
- According to the latest results of a survey organized by Agrievolution Alliance twice a year amongst the ag machinery manufacturers from various countries of the world, only 18% of the companies describe their current business situation as "very good" or "good". This resulted from mainly the industries in Europe and Japan,
- Nevertheless, the readiness to invest in new agricultural technology is still very pronounced in many markets, especially in China and Turkey, by means of higher order intake and turnover expectations of the relevant manufacturer companies,
- The best market performance for the first half of 2015 is foreseen to be in Asia and Oceania,
- After a globally record production volume in 2013 (EUR 96 billion; USD 130 billion) for agricultural machinery, Agrievolution expects a 5% decrease in production for the whole 2014, and foresees another slight decrease in 2015; while industry output is still above the long-term average and the downward trend would stop within a short period in the light of positive basic market conditions and the increasing importance of ag mechanization in more productive farming activities.
